I saw this man live in concert a couple weeks ago, when he was closing out the big Boston Calling music festival in Massachusetts. I’ve always considered Eminem to be one of the best, most spirited rappers of all-time. Generally speaking, I believe that the more conviction a rap artist delivers the better. Classic performers like M.O.P, Notorious B.I.G, Missy Elliott, and Wu-Tang Clan have always been several of my favorite rappers. However, the real Slim Shady belongs in a class that is all his own. I don’t think anyone else in the recording industry right now could top the emotive brio that stems from his poignant lyrics and truly passionate voice. Not Afraid, an endearing ode to getting clean, will always be one of my favorite tunes of his.
